On December 12, the 2nd Intelligent Collaborative Cloud Technology and Industry Development Summit Forum was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. The theme of the forum was “Intelligent Collaborative Cloud Technology and Smart Industry for Future”. The forum focused on the topics such as next-generation network technology systems, big data integration management, artificial intelligence and network information security to conduct in-depth discussions, highlight the systematic development of network information technology and ecological conservation of industries in the new era, exchange ideas on the development trends of IoT and networks integration technology and related scientific issues, share the development achievements of the new-generation information technology, and establish a Chinese solution for information technology in the new era.
The forum was co-hosted by the founding members of the Intelligent Collaborative Cloud Technology and Industry Alliance such as CASIC, China Electronics Corporation ("CEC"), China Academy of Information and Communications Technology ("CAICT"), Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences ("ICT"), School of Software of Tsinghua University, 360 Enterprise Security Group, iFLYTEK, and YOYOSYS, and supported by the Office of Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Office of Cyber Security of the Ministry of Public Security. Over 800 leaders and experts were gathered together for this grand event regarding the revolution and development of the network information technology in the new era, including representatives from relevant national ministries and commissions, and local governments, as well as aerospace, Internet, communications and financial enterprises, research institutes and universities. Gao Hongwei, the Chairman and Secretary of Party Committee of CASIC, attended the forum and delivered a speech. Liu Shiquan, a member of Party Committee and the Deputy General Manager of CASIC, attended the forum. The forum was presided over by Chen Guoying, a member of Party Committee and the Deputy General Manager of CASIC.
Focusing on the new development trend of the intelligent collaborative cloud technology and industry with perspectiveness
Gao pointed out in his speech that we are in an era of digitalization, networking, intelligence and cloudization, and data play a very important role in this era. Usually, data cannot be used directly, just like basic resources such as land, minerals and petroleum, and do not have use values or commercial values before being preliminarily processed, intensely processed and configured as information products with specific functions. At present, all aspects such as data collection, sorting, processing, circulation and application are in a mess. The intelligent collaborative cloud technology co-sponsored and co-researched by CASIC, China Electronics Corporation ("CEC"), China Academy of Information and Communications Technology ("CAICT"), Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences ("ICT"), School of Software of Tsinghua University, 360 Enterprise Security Group, iFLYTEK, and YOYOSYS is a bold attempt to solve the problem of this era.
Gao emphasized that the provision of intelligent collaborative cloud services must be based on the state-of-the-art universal information infrastructure at the lowest layer, such as ground-based networks and space-based networks. Specifically, the intelligent collaborative cloud mainly includes the following industrial development areas and objectives: 1. using the latest sensing technology, edge computing technology, and communication and storage technology to conduct the on-site data collection, transmission and storage for various application scenarios (similar to mining, transportation and storage of minerals); 2. using the big data analysis engine to sort out, analyze, correlate and integrate the data to create primary information products (similar to rough processing of mineral products into industrial raw materials); 3. using the artificial intelligence technology and various advanced algorithms and models to further process the primary information products to create general basic information products (similar to further processing of industrial raw materials into general basic industrial parts and standard parts for selection by ultimate processing enterprises of various information products (usually including various application platforms) as required); 4. analyzing the data product requirements issued by various application platforms to determine the demand of the platform users for the general information products, formulate the data product extraction strategy and effectively extract and invoke the basic information product library, as well as deliver those information products to the corresponding application platform; 5. application platforms supplementing personalized platform information components based on the needs of end users and the general information products, processing them into common or personalized information products that meet the needs of the end users, and submitting them to users in an appropriate manner; 6. information products being consumed or used by end users through various terminals (including AR and VR products) and APPs. All of the above six aspects are closely related to the network information security. Those aspects constitute the core elements of the “five-layer two-domain” model, as well as the main architecture of the next-generation cloud service.
Gao introduced that since July 2016, CASIC has begun to systematically organize the overall and underlying technology research concerning "intelligent collaborative cloud” to achieve the innovation goal of "defining the network based on actual application requirements and defining data based on information products circulation". This means that "intelligent collaborative cloud” allows the behavior of people to define the network, instead of allowing the network to define the behavior of people. This is the core of the innovation of the network information system in the new era, embodying the principal status of people in the application of network information technology, and preventing the spreading of the existing phenomenon of “status reversing” in the network information technology application field. The historical mission of intelligent collaborative cloud will promote the availability of the solution to this problem.
Release of intelligent collaborative cloud platform and related industry applications
In the expert speech session, CASIC delivered a theme report titled Intelligent Collaborative Cloud Technology and Smart Industry for Future. The report introduced the release of intelligent collaborative cloud platform and related industry applications with “five layers and two domains” as the overall architecture, and typical application scenarios and featured capabilities of various industries, and shared experience in cutting-edge technologies and industry applications in fields such as big data, IoT, cloud computing, next-generation Internet and artificial intelligence.
The report clearly pointed out that "the physical world moving towards IoT, and the virtual world moving towards the integration of networks” will become the development trend of the new-generation network information technology. The integration of networks will bring about new technological and industrial revolutions, and massive data will be gathered in the digital space for integration of networks. Data, just like water, can be ubiquitous and interoperable in an ecosystem. With the power of industry, people want to achieve the on-demand use of data. In order to achieve this goal, a strong, complete, secure and reliable basic cloud platform is required to provide support for data collection and aggregation, as well as value extraction and on-demand distribution to drive the operation of the entire ecosystem.
According to the report, in order to adapt to the data industry chain configuration, CASIC proposed core architecture of the new-generation network information system featuring with “five layers and two domains” based on the application scenario of integration of networks. For "Five layers and two domains" with data driving as the core, from the perspective of the origin of data collection, and based on the concept of achieving efficient collection of multi-source heterogeneous data without affecting the use of the original system, general technologies and products shall be adopted to realize the collection of various data sources by various means (similar to the continuous convergence of water resources in forms such as river water, underground water and rainwater).
The report pointed out that for the "five-layer two-domain" architecture, security and reliability are the cornerstone of the entire information system. The core of intelligent collaboration is building an open ecosystem. The “five-layer two-domain” architecture has been applied to the construction of CASIC’s basic cloud platform - “www.aic-d.com”. It focuses on the spatial dimension of data, and is designed to build a recycling ecosystem for the network space, carry and manage data, provide information and knowledge services, and create a data operation mode to provide comprehensive, all-field, full-depth, all-element, safe, reliable, practical, fast, cheap and convenient information services for the new era of digital economy. It is a solution for the “bottom layer” of the common infrastructure in the era of integration of networks, and provides common platform services for industry users, a large number of models, algorithms and training data for data scientists, comprehensive data collection, management and integration tools and components for data engineers and a lot of business development and construction tools and components for business engineers, so as to comprehensively improve the value production efficiency and promote the transformation of the digital economy era into the era of intelligent economy.
In addition, the report also introduced that based on the overall research on the "five-layer two-domain" architecture for the project and the establishment of “www.aic-d.com”, CASIC carried out the practice verification for nine sub-projects, and achieved a series of achievements in fields such as national governance, modern manufacturing industry and modern service industry. In the future, CASIC is willing to work together with all parties to build a good ecosystem of “information exchange, resource sharing, capacity coordination, opening up and cooperation, as well as mutual benefit and win-win result”, embrace the era of networks integration and share the development achievements of the times.
After the main forum, two sub-forums on advanced network information technology and intelligent collaborative cloud industry application were held simultaneously. Enterprise leaders, experts and scholars were invited to make special speeches, exchange ideas about technological development, cooperation and sharing of achievements and experience, and make joint efforts to open a new chapter in the development of the new-generation network information technology.
