On August 28, the Science and Innovation Council of the China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development (hereinafter referred to as "the Council") held its third plenary session at the Skolkovo Innovation Center in Moscow, Russia. The meeting was presided over by Russian Chairman of the Council..Over 30 representatives of Chinese and Russian members attended the meeting.
Themed on "the role of cooperation in the field of science and innovation in advancing comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Russia in the new era", the meeting was aimed to further strengthen the cooperation between both sides and jointly explore innovative ways to promote exchanges between China and Russia in the scientific and technological industry under the framework of the Council. Entrusted by Gao Hongwei, Chinese Chairman of the Council, Hou Xiufeng, Secretary of the Board of Directors of CASIC, attended the meeting on behalf of the Chinese chairman member and delivered a speech.
Hou comprehensively reviewed the work carried out by CASIC over the 5 years since the founding of the Council as the Chinese chairman member and in cooperation with other Chinese members of the Council, and introduced in detail China's key activities in the second half of 2019. According to Hou, CASIC would be willing to work with the Russian chairman member and the members of both sides to grasp the opportunity of win-win cooperation and coordinated development, to jointly promote practical innovations in the field of high-end technology of both countries, thus achieving a multi-field, multi-industry and multi-project win-win situation and sharing through collaborative innovation.
Representatives of Tsinghua University and PetroChina Company Limited on behalf of Chinese members and representatives of the Technology Development Department, Russian communication corporation and St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design on behalf of Russian members made speeches on the theme of the meeting. Members of both sides visited Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology and related laboratories. Both sides signed minutes regarding the meeting and the key work of the Council in the second half of the year.
