The Keynote Speech Contest "The Pillars of a Great Power" of the National Speech Contest "A New Generation of the Times: Growing Up together with My Motherland" was ended in the "Fuxing" assembly workshop of CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. on August 30. Li Qianru and Song Feng from CASIC won the gold and bronze awards, respectively.
The Keynote Speech Contest "The Pillars of a Great Power" was organized by the Party Committee Publicity Department of SASAC of the State Council, Shandong Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department and other organizations, consisting of preliminary contest, intermediary contest and finals. The preliminary contest was held in Beijing at the end of July. Among the 148 speakers selected by central state-owned enterprises (SOE) and provincial SASAC, there are the youngest Chinese high-speed rail manufacturing engineers, the first batch of female pilots for human occupied vehicle, C919 large passenger aircraft researchers, and operators for earth pressure balance shield machine with a super large diameter. Song Feng from the Second Academy and Li Qianru from the Third Academy, on behalf of front-line missile equipment designers, sincerely told their stories about making contribution to the country and growing up together with the motherland based on their position, showing the style of aerospace technicians in the new era and successfully advancing to the next round.
In the intermediary heat, 31 finalists from central SOEs such as CASIC, SGCC, CRRC, and SOEs from Beijing and Shandong respectively focused their speeches on the theme of the contest, major achievements in equipment manufacturing, and major technology innovations, technical equipment and projects, telling about great achievements and contributions made by SOEs in advancing national economic development, scientific and technological progress, national defense construction and improvement of people's livelihood over the 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as stories about employees of these SOEs in the new era who are determined to forge ahead and overcome difficulties to grow up together with the motherland and make major achievements in equipment manufacturing. Li Qianru stood out of these finalists and advanced to the finals in third place.
"China, aerospace technicians and all of us in the future will stay true to the founding mission and forge ahead with the pride and glory in major achievements in equipment manufacturing. We will strive to grow up together with our motherland and keep pace with China's development in the new era to move forward". In the finals, Li Qianru themed her speech on "Holding Up the Chinese Dream with Aerospace Power", giving a magnificent account of aerospace technicians' struggle and selfless dedication in forging "the pillars of a great power" with the mission of "empowering the army with science and technology and serving the nation with aerospace technology". Her affectionate and infectious speech was highly praised by the judges and won warm applause from the audience. Through fierce competition and scoring by 7 judges on the spot, Li Qianru, Guo Rui from CRRC and Luo Li from SGCC won the gold award and advanced to the finals of the Speech Contest "A New Generation of the Times: Growing Up together with My Motherland" to be held in Beijing in November.
As an important part of the public education campaigns to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Speech Contest "A New Generation of the Times: Growing Up together with My Motherland" is co-sponsored by Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, SASAC of the State Council, Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission, All-China Federation of Trade Union, Central Committee of the CYL, All-China Women's Federation and People's Daily. It aims to showcase the development of the country and popularize the hardworking ethic and spirit of Chinese in the new era. It consists of several speech contests themed on "building dream on the basis of labor", "clear waters and green mountains", "original aspiration of the founding of the CPC", and "the pillars of a great power".
