On October 1, major operation equipment (including various types of missile equipment, radar equipment and special vehicles) featuring systemaltization, intelligentization and practical operational capability, developed by CASIC --- the R&D and manufacturing company of all series of missile weapon systems of China, was inspected at the military parade for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. All the equipment displayed is domestically developed and in service. Among them, there are five types of equipment making their debut at the military parade. CASIC's equipment accounts for about 1/3 in the ground armament phalanxes, with various types of CASIC's equipment in the air echelon. The equipment reviewed constitutes China's offensive and defensive equipment system covering the field of land, sea, air, space and network. Some of these equipment technologies have reached the international advanced level.
Gao Hongwei, Chairman of the Board and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of CASIC, Liu Shiquan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and General Manager, Wei Yiyin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager, and Zhang Hongwen, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager, as well as more than 20 representatives of scientific and technological talents from CASIC and cadres and workers who fought in the front line of scientific research and production and made outstanding contributions to China's national defense industry were invited to attend the military parade, witnessing the exciting scene of the national defense equipment that is developed by CASIC to receive review of the Party and the people. Scientific researchers who have been providing technical support for CASIC's equipment to be reviewed for several months also stayed at the scene of the military parade to provide technical support.
CASIC also equipped the UAV system, long-range rocket launcher and vehicle-mounted gun-howitzer reviewed with four types of UAV launching carrier vehicle, two types of chassis and other key technical products. At the scene of the military parade, the high-rise building fire extinguishing system, security equipment, various weather radars, on-hook equipment, heavy flat trucks, self-propelled modular vehicles, floats and other technical products developed by CASIC played an important role in ensuring the success of the parade, specifically in guarding the safety and order of the parade, providing accurate and reliable weather observation data, ensuring the rapid transportation, erection and removal of parade reviewing stands and performance stages, and undertaking the annual maintenance of the roads in the Tiananmen area. All of these have deeply demonstrated the capability and level of CASIC in "generalized defense and extensive security".
This is the 7th appearance of China's missile weapon and equipment in the military parades to mark the founding of the People's Republic of China. The military parades to mark the founding of the People's Republic of China witnessed the development of China's missile industry. At the National Day military parade for the 35th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1984, China's missiles made their debut, particularly the YJ-8 known as "China's Flying Fish" and the HQ-2 missile that shot down U2 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft many times, attracting worldwide attention. In 1999, a series of missile equipment developed and manufactured by CASIC appeared at the National Day military parade for the 50th anniversary, demonstrating the elegant demeanour of CASIC as China's leader in missile development and production. 10 years later, at the National Day military parade for the 60th anniversary, the ground-launched cruise missile made its debut at the scene and became the focus of the media and the audience. In 2015, China's missile system appeared at the military parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, amazing the world and inspiring the Chinese people. At the military parade held at Zhurihe Training Base to mark PLA 90th birthday in 2017, missile equipment made its debut on the battlefield. In 2018, navy warships carrying all kinds of missile equipment appeared at the naval parade in the South China Sea.
Gao Hongwei, Chairman of the Board and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of CASIC, said: "I feel particularly excited and proud when General Secretary Xi Jinping waves at our missile equipment at the parade. I'm sincerely exclaimed in the prosperity and strength of our motherland and even more proud of the contributions CASIC has made to the peace and prosperity. Looking back on previous inspection of missile equipment at the parades, we can see that China's missile industry is always developed together with the country. Currently, our missile family has become larger and more powerful, realizing leapfrog development towards systematization, serialization and practical operational capability building.
In view of the future development of missile equipment, Gao said that CASIC would take "empowering the army with science and technology and serving the nation with aerospace technology" as its fundamental mission and provision of advanced aerospace defense equipment and high-tech products for national security as its fundamental value. In the new era, China is experiencing profound changes in the connotation and extension of security, the space-time domain and the internal and external factors. We must keep a clear mind, face up to the gap, innovate independently, fully implement Xi Jinping's thought on strengthening the military, seize current opportunities, live up to the great era, and keep on firmly building the great wall of steel for our motherland to create an aerospace miracle that makes the world sit up and take notice.
