On November 5, the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) kicked off at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech titled "Openness and Cooperation for a Shared Future". Xi stressed that all countries all over the world should have a more open mindset and take more open steps, and work together to build an open world economy through cooperation, an open world economy with innovation and an open world economy for mutual benefits. Xi reiterated that China would open its door only wider to the world, and stay committed to opening-up to promote reform, development and innovation, thus bringing about opening-up at an even higher level.
The second CIIE was held on November 5-10. A total of 181 countries, regions and international organizations, and more than 3,800 companies participated in the Expo.
The Party Leadership Group of CASIC attached great importance to and made well-planned arrangements for the Expo, and actively established central state-owned enterprise trade missions. Gao Hongwei, Chairman of the Board and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of CASIC, and other leaders of the Party Leadership Group took an active part in inviting overseas partners to participate in the Expo, developing investment introduction and procurement plans based on actual needs, organizing domestic and overseas purchasers, and elaborately planning supporting activities at the Expo. Zhang Hongwen, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of CASIC attended the opening ceremony and listened to the speeches delivered by President Xi Jinping and other state leaders as well as government leaders from the countries all over the world.
At the Expo, CASIC took concrete actions to make the Expo a "continued success". It successfully invited 12 enterprises from 8 countries and regions to participate in the Expo, showcasing exhibits of various categories including intelligent manufacture and covering a total exhibition stand area of more than 1,000 m2. Both the number of enterprise and the total exhibition stand area go beyond those at the first CIIE. In addition, CASIC also actively organized its affiliates to put forward import purchase plans based on actual needs, and concluded more than 20 projects at the Expo.
Gao Hongwei said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the second consecutive year that China hosts the CIIE. President Xi Jinping's speech once again demonstrated China's firm determination to adhere to its fundamental state policy of opening-up and to bring about opening-up at an even higher level. As President Xi Jinping pointed out in his speech, economic globalization represents the trend of history, and what we are seeing is a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. Standing at a new historical starting point, CASIC will fully implement the guiding principles from the 19th National Congress of the CPC and the second, third and fourth plenary sessions of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC, and follow the trend of development, the new development philosophy and the strategy of innovation-driven development. While expanding its capability and strength in independent innovation, CASIC will also grasp the development opportunities presented by digitalized, networked and intelligent development, further intensify efforts in "going global" and "bringing in", and advance deeper and wider international economic, technical and trade cooperation, to make positive contributions to an open global economy and to a community with a shared future for mankind.
Zhang Hongwen listened to the speech delivered by President Xi Jinping on the spot and attended the sub-forum on "Artificial Intelligence and Innovation-driven Development". Zhang said that the second CIIE is an important international event hosted by China. CASIC will make the best use of the opportunities provided by CIIE to further expand the channels of opening-up and international cooperation, continuously expand the fruits of international cooperation, create new sources of economic growth through collaborative innovation and foster new drivers of economic growth, thus further promoting the industrialization of CASIC.
Compared to the first CIIE, CASIC held more supporting activities at the Expo, like automobile electronics promotion meeting and signing of strategic cooperation agreement between CASIC and FORCAM, further deepening and expanding the exchange and cooperation between CASIC and international advanced enterprises.
At the Expo, CASIC also organized its affiliates to have a full understanding of the characteristics and advantages of internationally renowned enterprises in the form of "concentrated exhibition + special exhibition", to seek international cooperation and serve the international market.
