The meeting to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) army entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea was grandly held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on October 23. President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech. President Xi emphasized that the great victory of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea will forever be engraved in the history of the Chinese nation and the history of peace, development and progress of mankind.
After listening to the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the meeting, Yuan Jie, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of CASIC, said that the great victory in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea fully demonstrates the Chinese people's iron will of not being afraid of violence, tenacious character of unity, steadfast determination of safeguarding world peace, and iron-like inflexibility of the people's army in daring to fight and win, sends the clanging voice of "ending war with war, ending war with force, winning peace and respect with victory" to imperialist aggressors, and is a declaration that the Chinese people have stood firm in the East, and an important milestone in the Chinese nation's march toward the great rejuvenation. Yuan Jie pointed out that in the new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way, CASIC should unite more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, always take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guide, thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech, inherit and carry forward the great spirit in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, unswervingly implement the new development concept, build a new development pattern, and unswervingly fulfill the first responsibility of strengthening the army, adhere to the strategic goal of "one goal in three steps" so as to build a world-leading aerospace and defense company, fully support the construction of the world-class army, and make new and greater contributions to realizing the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Xu Guangquan from Second Academy of CASIC was invited to attend the meeting to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) army entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. At this meeting, more than 600 CPV veterans who fought in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea and from CASIC have been granted memorial medals marking the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to fight in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea.
On the eve of this meeting, Yuan Jie and his party cordially visited Liu Congjun, the retired veteran cadre, CPV veteran and former president of Second Academy of CASIC.
At the home of Liu Congjun, Yuan Jie wore the memorial medal that marks the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to fight in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea for Liu Congjun, sent him the solatium, and thanked Liu Congjun on behalf of CASIC Party Leadership Group for his outstanding contribution to the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea and the development of aerospace industry. Yuan Jie introduced the development of CASIC in recent years and cordially inquired about Liu Congjun's physical and living conditions. Yuan Jie said that the achievements of CASIC cannot be achieved without the contributions of the older generation of astronauts represented by Liu Congjun and hoped that Liu Congjun would take good care of himself and continue to make suggestions for the development of the aerospace industry.
Liu Congjun tells the story of his life as the director of the translation room of the Sino-Korean Air Force Joint Command during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and his experience in the creation and development of the aerospace industry. He thanked the CASIC leaders for their concern, and said that although he is 91 years old this year, he is still healthy and will continue to maintain his physical and mental health, expecting new achievements in the development of China's aerospace industry.
On the afternoon of October 23, some cadres and workers of CASIC went to the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution and visited the theme exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to fight in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea.
