On December 1, CASIC and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing, marking that the two sides will focus on their main responsibilities and businesses, expand the space for cooperation in the fields like equipment manufacturing, information technology, and modern service industry, deepen cooperation and work together to promote high-quality development, further support national security system and capacity building, and make greater contributions to the modernization of national defense and the armed forces.
Heads of relevant departments at the Headquarters of CASIC and CSSC attended the signing ceremony, including Yuan Jie, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of CASIC, Liu Shiquan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and General Manager of CASIC, Gong Bo, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of CASIC, Lei Fanpei, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of CSSC, Yang Jincheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and General Manager of CSSC, Qian Jianping, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of CSSC.
Yuan Jie pointed out that both CASIC and CSSC are national extra-large central state-owned military industrial enterprises, and play an important supporting role in the modernization of China's national defense and armed forces. The conclusion of this strategic cooperation agreement is of great significance to the development of both sides. Yuan said that CASIC has participated in the equipment development, advanced research and joint demonstration in a number of projects undertaken by CSSC. He hoped that CASIC and CSSC would do the following: give full play to their respective professional advantages, further strengthen strategic collaboration, and jointly carry out demonstration and research of major projects; strengthen cooperation in key areas such as equipment research and development and intelligent manufacturing, commercial space rocket launch, information technology, information technology application innovation industry, and modern service industry. He also hoped the two side can expand the cooperative development and sharing of resources in the fields of scientific research and production facilities and data centers, promote the digital transformation of the aerospace and shipbuilding industries, and better serve the national strategy, the national defense development and the national welfare and the people's livelihood. According to Yuan, safeguarding national security and supporting modernization of national defense and the armed forces are the shared mission of CASIC and CSSC. Yuan also hoped that both sides would take the signing of this strategic cooperation agreement as an opportunity to work together and forge ahead in an innovative and enterprising spirit to open up new prospects for win-win cooperation, enhance their respective international competitiveness, and make new and greater contributions to the modernization of national defense and the armed forces.
Lei Fanpei expressed his thanks to CASIC for its strong support to CSSC for years. He introduced the restructuring and integration of CSSC and its development in recent years, and hoped that CASIC and CSSC would strengthen cooperation in the areas like defense equipment, scientific and technological innovation and civil industry, establish a diversified communication and cooperation mechanism, take advantage of their respective specialized resource superiority, carry out collaborative innovation, and enhance the research and development capabilities of core key technologies. Lei also hoped that both sides would complement each other's advantages and jointly develop strategic emerging industries, to ensure that the "14th Five-Year Plan" gets off to a good start and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Later, Liu Shiquan and Yang Jincheng, on behalf of CASIC and CSSC respectively, signed the strategic cooperation agreement, marking a new stage of cooperation between the two sides.
