On June 6, at the plenary session focusing on the “China’s Aerospace Achievements and Prospects” of GLEX 2017, Liu Shiquan, a member of Party Committee and a vice President of CASIC, delivered a special report titled Embracing the Era of “Great Aerospace” with Technology Exploration and Industrial Development, and said that CASIC is making great efforts to develop commercial aerospace and integrate the quality resources all over the world.
Liu pointed out that CASIC regards “informatization, socialization, marketization and internationalization” as the key to the development of commercial aerospace, and has been devoted to innovation and exploration in the field of advanced technologies for aerospace in the process of creating market opportunities and economic values and has achieved positive achievements. By vigorously establishing the commercial spatial information infrastructures, the development of UAV platforms, near-space aerostats, satellite platforms and ground application systems is progressing smoothly.
In terms of entering space, the KZ-11 solid launch vehicle with a carrying capacity in the near-earth orbit of 1t will make its first flight at the end of this year. Therefore, the application of the “commercial launch vehicle carrying satellites like a bus” for establishing satellite constellations on a large scale is expected to be realized. In terms of returning from the space, the development of space cargo returning module based on innovative ideas is progressing smoothly to strive to provide various domestic and international users with returning services for space materials and we intend to conduct verifications in 2019. In terms of the round trip, we focus on the development of new-generation reusable shuttle vehicles capable of horizontal takeoff and landing. At present, ground tests on key technologies concerning engines have been completed and have made significant progress.
In terms of exploring the development of the space economy, CASIC is deploying the orbital modules in space and their commercial application projects with innovative ideas. At the same time, CASIC also cooperates with relevant research institutes to carry out the project demonstration about the commercial application of manned space stations and exploration & exploitation of space resources. The large and ultra-large supporting launch vehicles have also been completely deployed.
In addition, CASIC also strives to create an innovation ecosystem for commercial aerospace. Through releasing the project cooperation and supporting collaboration guidelines to the public, the first industrial Internet platform in China--CASICloud, has attracted a large number of well-positioned domestic and foreign institutions to participate in the project. By attracting the capital of all parties, CASIC has established a financial leasing company based on the industrial guidance fund worth RMB 10 billion and explored the way of establishing the aerospace system through Public-Private-Partnership (PPP). We made efforts to expand the influence of development of commercial aerospace in China through creating the band of “China Commercial Aerospace Forum”.
Liu said that CASIC is an important participant and driving force of the aerospace undertakings in China. CASIC is willing to sincerely cooperate with all sectors of society and make new contributions to benefiting the society with space technologies.
