The report delivered at the 19th National Congress of CPC pointed out that "we will move Chinese industries up to the medium-high end of the global value chain, and foster a number of world-class advanced manufacturing clusters", to accelerate the development of advanced manufacturing industries and promote the industrial upgrading. CASIC and its 3rd Academy seized the momentum and the initiative, to take the aerospace 3D printing application materials and preparation technique as an important breakthrough point for development of smart manufacturing, and to realize the deep integration of space technology and 3D printing in an innovative way.
On January 5, 2018, here came the 1st China (Harbin) Aerospace 3D Printing Application Materials and Preparation Technique Exhibition & Summit jointly sponsored by CASIC and Harbin Municipal People's Government. The Summit was themed as "Innovation Driving & Integrative Development". More than 500 leaders, business elites, experts and scholars, scholars from top colleges and universities in China, and enterprise representatives of domestic 3D printing industry chain came together, to focus on the development trend and innovative applications of additive manufacturing industry and technologies, share the advanced concepts and experience in relation to the additive manufacturing industry, and provide advices and suggestions for promoting the vigorous development of China's 3D printing industry.
The Summit included three stages: release of titanium powder industry capacity and signing of cooperation contracts, keynote speeches, and high-level talks. With the joint witness of the officers and guests present at the meeting, CASIC conducted the release of titanium powder industry capacity and signing of cooperation contracts. At the meeting, CASIC signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Harbin Municipal People's Government and entered into contracts in respect of industrial cooperation with six enterprises such as Hunan Farsoon High-Technology Co., Ltd., TSC Laser Technology Development (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and E-Plus-3D; at the same time, a strategic cooperation agreement was concluded between CASICloud Technology Development Co., Ltd. and Industry and Information Technology Commission of Harbin. Hu Yafeng -- a vice governor of Heilongjiang, Zhi Dayong -- a deputy mayor of Harbin, and Wei Yiyin -- a member of Party Committee and a vice President of CASIC attended the Summit and delivered speeches. The attendees also included: Wang Huaming -- an academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Lu Jian -- an academician from the National Academy of Technologies of France and a professor of City University of Hong Kong, Zhang Hongwen -- the president of 3rd Academy of CASIC, and Li Jianmin -- a vice President of 3rd Academy of CASIC, as well as other leaders, experts and scholars. More than 50 mainstream media including the following reported the Summit: People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, Economic Daily, Science and Technology Daily, China Daily, China News Service, China Network, CNTV, Heilongjiang TV Station, IFENG, Today’s Headlines, People's Tribune, and China Space News, and so on.
In his speech, Wei Yiyin introduced the industry ideas and measures of CASIC for the development of additive manufacturing technologies and supporting capabilities. He said that as a strategic, high-tech, and state-level innovative enterprise under the direct management of the central government, CASIC took "vitalizing the army through science and technology and serving the country by aerospace projects" as the mission, and was engaged in the strategic industry critical to national security, being a backbone of the science, technology and industry for nation defense in China. CASIC served for the big picture and strategic requirements of the country's development, implemented the strategic initiatives such as the "Made in China 2025" and the "Internet +" action plan, and actively seized the strategic position of the country's "advanced Internet + manufacturing." He pointed out that Aerospace Hiwing (Harbin) Titanium Industrial Co., Ltd. (AHTi) is an important part for CASIC and its 3rd Academy to seek the development in respect of the entire additive manufacturing industry chain. AHTi focuses on the design, R&D and manufacturing of high-quality titanium-alloy additive manufacturing raw materials, and has set up technology-leading metal powder production line, with building a domestically first-class and internationally renowned R&D and manufacturing base of additive manufacturing raw materials as its future goal. He said that CASIC is willing to work together with Heilongjiang Province, Harbin Municipality, and peers from the national and global additive manufacturing industries, to under the guide of the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era of Xi Jinping, continuously strengthen and drive the deep integration of space technology and national economic development, serve local economic development, help rejuvenate the old industrial bases in Northeast China, and boost the sustained and healthy development of China's additive manufacturing industry.
At the Summit, experts and scholars made topic exchanges about the application of 3D printing industry. Zhang Hongwen, in his keynote speech -- Development and Application of Additive Manufacturing Technology in Aerospace Field, further introduced the development of additive manufacturing industry, the planning of CASIC for additive manufacturing industry, and the application of additive manufacturing in aerospace field. He and the experts present at the Summit also shared the vision of additive manufacturing development. He explained that under the background of the "Made in China 2025" initiative, 3D printing has become the main line for promoting smart manufacturing, and aerospace is one of the important areas for additive manufacturing application, which is mainly represented by the application concerning titanium alloy, aluminum-lithium alloy, ultrahigh-strength steel, high temperature alloy, and so on. He said that with the promotion of 3D printing technology to biomedical, power, energy and other fields, the additive manufacturing application of cobalt alloy, copper alloy, composite materials, gradient materials, amorphous alloy, etc. will be more and more extensive. He expressed that CASIC and its 3rd Academy will vigorously develop additive manufacturing technologies and application, and fully combine raw materials, printing equipment and manufacturing processes, to create a typical development model of entire additive manufacturing industry chain in aerospace field; with the brand-new design concepts, the 3rd Academy will construct a smart aerospace additive manufacturing factory which integrates smart production organization, process database, information collection and analysis, and production terminals, and promote it in other fields, to contribute to the rapid development of smart manufacturing in China. He indicated that the 3rd Academy will also establish a special additive manufacturing zone at CASICloud, to comprehensively advance the deep integration of additive manufacturing technology and the Internet, build a new model of Internet-based remote collaborative manufacturing; the 3rd Academy will utilize the zone to collect the demands for manufacturing of various products, lower the market expanding costs, broaden market channels, enrich product structures, and gradually develop the integrated manufacturing and service capabilities for the entire industry and various fields.
The subsequent 3D printing theme salon was hosted by Hou Jiwei, a deputy director of additive manufacturing of the 3rd Academy. There the experts performed in-depth exchanges and sharing related to 3D printing technology, conducted an in-depth interpretation for the development of the 3D printing industry, and showed a forward-looking outlook for the overall development pattern and future trends of smart industry.
