On January 8, 2018, the 2017 State Science and Technology Awarding Meeting of the People's Republic of China was held in the Great Hall of the People, to honor the scientists and technicians who have made outstanding contributions to China's scientific and technological causes and modernization. Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Gaoli, Wang Huning, and other Party and state leaders attended the meeting. CASIC won 1 National Science & Technology Progress Award Special Award and 1 Second Class Award.

Gao Hongwei, Liu Shiquan, the officers of relevant departments at the headquarters, the officers of award-winning branches, and representatives of award-winning teams of CASIC, jointly attended the award-giving meeting at the Great Hall of the People. Everyone felt that the Party and the country had attached great importance and support to scientific and technical personnel and achievements, and scientists and technicians were encouraged to pass on the spirit of aerospace and defy hardships and dangers in the course of climbing the peak of science and technology, so as to contribute the strength and wisdom to the implementation of two centenary goals raised by the report delivered at the 19th National Congress of CPC and the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
At this meeting, two people in total were awarded with the Highest Science and Technology Awards of China; there were 35 National Natural Science Awards -- 2 First Class Awards and 33 Second Class Awards, 66 State Technological Innovation Awards -- 4 First Class Awards and 62 Second Class Awards, 170 National Science and Technology Progress Awards -- 3 Special Awards, 21 First Class Awards (including those for innovation teams), and 146 Second Class Awards.
