On April 24, the main event of 2018 “China Aerospace Day” was opened at Harbin Institute of Technology.
This event was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of PRC (“MIIT”), the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense of PRC, the China National Space Administration, and the Heilongjiang Government, and themed as “Building a New Aerospace Era”. This event was held to call on all sectors of the society to follow the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era of President Xi Jinping, study and implement the guidelines of the 19th National Congress of CPC, and carry out the innovation-driven and military-civilian integration development strategies, so as to promote the aerospace spirit, gather strength, and accelerate the development of an aerospace power.
Miao Wei - the Minister of MIIT and Zhang Qingwei - the Secretary of Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee attended the opening ceremony of this event. Zhang Kejian, a Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and a Deputy Director General of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense of PRC, granted the banner of "China Aerospace Day" to Harbin Institute of Technology. Wu Yanhua, a Deputy Director General of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense of PRC and the China National Space Administration presided over the opening ceremony. Li Yue - the President of CASIC and Fang Xiangming - a vice President of CASIC also attended this event.
At the opening ceremony, the relay satellite Chang'e IV and the two small satellites it carries were announced and respectively named as "Queqiao" and "Longjiang I" and "Longjiang II". The China National Space Administration, the China Meteorological Administration, and the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization signed and issued a Letter of Intent on Cooperation at the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony also witnessed activities such as the licensing of Aerospace Science Education Base of the China National Space Administration, the China Aerospace Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the presentation of first “Aerospace Fund Award Special Award”.
After the opening ceremony, the “Symposium of Aerospace Technology for Revitalization of Longjiang” sponsored by the Heilongjiang Government and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense of PRC was convened at Harbin Institute of Technology. There multiple academicians and experts provided advice and suggestions on the aerospace technology contributing to the revitalization of Longjiang.
At the meeting, CASIC and the Heilongjiang Province entered into the Supplementary Agreement on Strategic Cooperation for the future cooperation of both parties in respect of aerospace technology.
There Li Yue pointed out that “as for industrial Internet, the CASICloud “Belt and Road” spatial information corridor cloud platform (English version) will be formally launched this afternoon, and this will provide more business opportunities and updated business models for mass entrepreneurship and innovation; in terms of smart industry, CASIC will seek cooperation for the revitalization of Longjiang in respect of smart city, policing, and safe city; with regard to talents training, CASIC will conduct cooperation with universities, scientific research institutions, and advanced technology companies, so as to jointly assist Heilongjiang Province in upgrading of innovation.”
