The First Theme Exhibition of Achievements in the Commercial Aerospace Industry in China Kicks off (Gathering the Development Achievements in the Commercial Aerospace Field at Home and Abroad)

On September 26, the 4th China (International) Commercial Aerospace Forum kicked off in Wuhan. At the forum, the exhibition area for the theme exhibition of achievements in the industry with an area of 5,000 m2 was established at Exhibition Hall A6 in Wuhan International Expo Center for the first time. The exhibition covers a wide range of fields such as commercial launch vehicles, satellite development, spatial information applications, space science popularization, investment and financing, and it is the first theme exhibition of achievements in the commercial aerospace industry held in China in recent years.

Gathering the development achievements in the commercial aerospace field at home and abroad

The exhibition attracted nearly 80 organizations from relevant domestic enterprises such as CASIC, CASC, CETC, relevant departments of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Space Foundation, Wuhan National Aerospace Industry Base, Wuhan University, Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an Aoxiang, Chang Guang Satellite, Changsha Tianyi, MinoSpace and Space Honor, and universities, research institutes, investment and financing institutions and social groups, as well as relevant international enterprises from nearly 20 countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Russia. The development achievements in the commercial aerospace field at home and abroad were gathered at the exhibition to provide an international platform for industrial agglomeration, trading promoting integration, exchange and sharing.

CASIC made its debut of the entire enterprise at the exhibition. CASIC released its “Five Clouds and One Train” project in the field of commercial aerospace, micro-satellite platforms, load products, spatial information applications, space transportation systems, UAV industry, airship industry, etc., systematically demonstrating the development blueprint, advantages and system solutions of CASIC in the commercial aerospace field.

On the first day of the exhibition, Gao Hongwei, the Chairman of CASIC, and relevant officers from organizations of Hubei Province, Wuhan City, Ministry of Science and Technology and China National Space Administration visited the exhibition halls, and conducted in-depth exchanges with many exhibitors at home and abroad. The cutting-edge technologies and products, innovative ideas, new modes and diversified services in the commercial aerospace field exhibited at the exhibition were highly recognized and appreciated by the visitors.

Systematically demonstrating the development blueprint in the commercial aerospace field of CASIC

At the exhibition, CASIC conducted a comprehensive demonstration for the commercial aerospace projects such as Feiyun Project, Kuaiyun Project, Xingyun Project, Hongyun Project, Tengyun Project and Flying Train Project. Feiyun Project aims to build the space LAN based on the long-endurance unmanned aircraft and relies on the long-endurance unmanned aircraft platform, and the project will focus on applications such as emergency communication, remote sensing monitoring, etc. Kuaiyun Project aims to establish a floating mobile platform that can reach the stratosphere to provide services such as hydrogeological observation, major disaster monitoring and information support guarantee. Xingyun Project aims to forge a low-orbit narrow-band satellite communication system that will provide comprehensive IoT data service such as data acquisition, realtime data transmission, deep data mining, etc. to build an information ecosystem that features organic integration of human and things, as well as things and things. Hongyun Project focuses on building an airborne broadband Internet to provide broadband Internet service to users at any place and at any time. Tengyun Project aims to research and develop a new-generation space aircraft that is capable of horizontal take-off and can be repeatedly used to provide cheap, safe and convenient trip between the earth and the space. Flying Train Project aims to research and develop high speed flying trains that operates on near-vacuum pipe routes to greatly decrease aerodynamic resistance and uses the electromagnetic propulsion technology to provide powerful acceleration capability and high speed cruising capability.

In recent years, CASIC has pursued transformation and upgrading with technological innovation, business mode innovation and management innovation. Based on the development concept of “information exchange, resource sharing, capacity coordination, opening up and cooperation, as well as mutual benefit and win-win result”, CASIC integrated domestic and international resources, vigorously implemented the development plan for the commercial aerospace industry, actively promoted the implementation of the “Five Clouds and One Train” project (the key project of commercial aerospace) in an orderly manner, and has achieved phased results. In addition, CASIC has made great progress in fields such as launch services for commercial launch vehicles, commercial satellites development and spatial information applications. The first commercial launching of KZ-1A launch vehicle has been successfully completed in the mode of “sending three satellites into space through one launch vehicle”. The Kaituozhe launch vehicle successfully launched the Tiankun-1 satellite. The construction of Wuhan National Aerospace Industry Base commenced. CASIC has initiated to set up the Yangtze River Aerospace Fund with the total scale of RMB 10 billion. CASIC has been committed to cooperating with a wide range of social resources to create new business modes for the commercial aerospace industry in China in accordance with the orientation of “mobilizing the wits of whole society in the development of overall design institute, overall design department and final assembly plant”.

As of now, for the Feiyun Project, we have completed the development of high-altitude solar drones, and we are conducting flight tests at present; for the Kuaiyun Project, we have completed the development of the prototype for the near-space aerostat; for the Xingyun Project and Hongyun Project, we have completed the establishment of the commercial company and carried out the development of the formal satellite sample respectively. The satellite for technical verification of the Hongyun Project is planned to be launched within this year, and the in-orbit test will also be carried out; for the Tengyun Project, the first flight test in China on the mode translation of composite engines has been completed; for the flying train project, we are tackling problems in key technologies; the development and launch services for Kuaizhou launch vehicles steadily advanced, and the commercial launch will be carried out recently. CASIC is working hard to make new progress for the development of China's commercial aerospace industry.

“Kuaizhou” brand has become an impressive name card for commercial launching

In the development of commercial aerospace, the propulsion enjoys priority. CASIC is making great efforts to promote the development of launch vehicle technologies, and has developed “Kuaizhou” launch vehicles, which can provide launching services for solid launch vehicles featuring with “high reliability, low cost and quick response” for users at home and abroad.

At this exhibition, the star products exhibited by CASIC such as the KZ-1A LAUNCHER and the KZ-11 LAUNCHER attracted a lot of visitors at home and abroad. The KZ-1A LAUNCHER has a total length of about 20m, a take-off mass of about 30t, and a carrying capacity of 200kg on the 700km/SSO orbit. However, compared with the KZ-1A LAUNCHER, the KZ-11 LAUNCHER being developed by CASIC features with more carrying capacity and lower launch costs.

A variety of UAVs exhibited become the focus at the exhibition hall

In the exhibition area for UAV industry, six real UAVs and models were exhibited by CASIC such as HW-350 (small multi-purpose long-endurance UAV), HW-210/A (long-endurance fixed-wing UAV) and HW-310A (multi-function fixed-wing UAV), and attracted a lot of visitors.

Among them, HW-350 (small multi-purpose long-endurance UAV) is capable of carrying multiple loads, quick response, adapting to the environment and executing long-endurance missions. HW-210/A (long-endurance fixed-wing UAV) features with simple structure, light-weight fuselage, low flight resistance and long cruising time, and can be used for information relaying and meteorological detection. HW-310A (multi-function fixed-wing UAV system) is a small multi-purpose low-speed flight platform at medium/low altitude, and can realize the convenient replacement of different task loads and perform tasks such as aerial photography and aerial survey. HW-X120 (backpack quadrotor UAV) is light and compact, foldable and portable, and can be unfolded by a single person within a short time. It features with self-propelled take-off and landing, and reliable system performance. HW-X270A (agricultural plant protection UAV) can realize the automatic flight control during the entire process and swarm operations, as well as statistics and analysis for agricultural pests and diseases and ecological informationization, warning, operation, monitoring closed-loop control. HW-120 (small electric UAV) is mainly used for emergency rescue.
