On October 13, the final of the 2018 "AIIA Cup" artificial intelligence tour in CASIC kicked off in Beijing. CASIC was one of the five competition areas of the tour, and attracted more than one thousand outstanding teams. In the final, JSI Team of the Department of Computer Science of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Diting Team of China University of Petroleum, Jinyun Studio Team and Buykee Team won the gold prizes of the AI Achievement Award. The successful conclusion of the final also indicates the end of the first "AIIA Cup" artificial intelligence tour.
Officers and representatives of relevant organizations such as the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and China Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance were present at the final. Chen Guoying, a member of Party Committee and the Deputy General Manager of CASIC, was present at the final and delivered a speech. Officers in charge and department heads of relevant secondary and tertiary units of CASIC, as well as experts and scholars in the field of artificial intelligence in China were also present at the final.
Chen said that CASIC, as a strategic, high-tech and state-level innovative enterprise, always adheres to the innovation-driven development strategy, is committed to cutting-edge technology exploration and tackling key problems in important areas in respect of the new era, new mission and new journey, as well as tackles key problems in emerging technologies in an innovative way and develops emerging industries based on the idea of civil-military integration. As an important cutting-edge technology field, artificial intelligence will develop rapidly to change the way of life in human society and the world in a profound way. Seizing the major strategic opportunities for the development of artificial intelligence will boost the promotion of the development of the artificial intelligence industry and the acceleration of the construction of an innovative country and a powerful nation of science and technology in the world. In the future, CASIC will also take this opportunity to find good ideas, teams and projects to provide special supports for incubation and cooperation.
It is reported that the final was undertaken by the Second Academy of CASIC, and its theme was “competing for integration and development, and intelligence promoting the construction of a powerful country”. It aimed to take serving national strategies into account, comprehensively promote the development of artificial intelligence, facilitate tackling key problems in artificial intelligence technologies by focusing on civil-military integration and establish an industrial ecosystem to shape a trend of collaborative innovation for development.
The tour was held to promote the vigorous development of the artificial intelligence industry, initiated by China Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance and carried out under the guidance of government departments such as the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Office of Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission.
